Beginners Mosaic: Indirect Method

Beginners mosaic classed indirect method

Teacher: Silvie Jacobi + Joe Moss
Platform: Udemy
Level: Beginner

Duration: 34 Lessons (2h 23m)
Audio: English
Subtitles: N/A

This Udemy course features mosaic duo Silvie Jacobi and Jose Moss, who will guide you through the process of mosaic-making through the indirect method.

Contrary to the direct method (placing tesserae directly onto a base, side up), the indirect method is a bit more complex. This approach involves fixing and assembling tesserae backward, meaning you will only see your final design once you flip your surface/base around.

During this class, your instructors will cover the basics of the method, how to source materials, demonstrate cutting, laying, and assembling techniques, all while discussing the nature and requirements of the process.

Taking different online mosaic classes to experience both methods is also an effective way to test the waters to find which resonates most with you. At the end of the day, how you initiate your mosaics journey comes down to what excites you most!
